Live Space workshop

“Live Space” an internationally acclaimed event organized by the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), which for over eight years has been a beacon of innovation in electronic and electroacoustic music. We invite you to partner with us for the upcoming edition, taking place in Vilnius every April.

“Live Space” is a unique week-long international workshop that brings together students and lecturers from leading European institutions – including the Academy of Music and Drama (Gothenburg), Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Sibelius Academy (Helsinki), Norwegian Academy of Music (Oslo), The Grieg Academy (Bergen), Malmo Academy of Music, and the University of Iceland. These talented composers, sound designers, and performers converge in Vilnius to delve into the exploration of sophisticated spatial sound systems.

The core of “Live Space” lies in ambisonics and multi-channel surround sound – cutting-edge technologies that redefine how we experience audio. Participants engage in hands-on learning, transforming this technology into innovative art supported by renowned experts in the field. Throughout the week, students collaboratively create unique art performances or fixed-media pieces, primarily utilizing the immersive capabilities of the LMTA’s own Julius Juzeliūnas spatial sound sphere. This focus on 360-degree sound and immersive media places Vilnius at the forefront of contemporary artistic expression, linking it to rapidly developing cultural industries such as virtual reality and advanced projection techniques.
